Who doesn’t love an "Overnight Success" story? I love the montage in movies where the hero decides to get fit, sad music plays for thirty seconds while they lift weights, and suddenly hey are an Olympian! I want that. I want the spiritual equivalent of that. I want to pray one big, fiery prayer and instantly become a wise, patient saint. I want to write one check and solve world hunger. I recently decided I wanted to get back into writing. I sat down to write a book. I had the title, the cover concept, and the dedication page all planned out. I sat at my laptop, ready to churn out a bestseller... and wrote three sentences. They were bad sentences. I got discouraged, checked social media, saw someone else announcing their book deal, and quit. I decided if I couldn't do it big, I shouldn't do it at all. A constant problem in my life. Which is why my treadmill sits in the basement almost completely untouched. I tried to run 5 miles on day 1, and when I couldn’t I decided to never try again.
